Sleep

What do you guys do to get to sleep? I always have a hard time but I'm always so tired! Even if I take a Tylenol pm I'm up all night anyway, do any of you have any natural suggestions? I usually just wait until I sort of pass out from exhaustion but I don't think that's healthy. I don't drink soda anymore and the tea I drink doesn't say there's caffeine in it anywhere on the bottle... I just want to go to sleep.

OH AND BY THE WAY... My elephant's name is Bluebell :)

Anyway I was just thinking about the worst noises I've ever heard and I was wondering if anyone else (of the 2 people that actually read my journal) have heard things that they just can't get out of there head.
(not in any particular order)

Heard a kid get hit by a car once... I was so nervous I didn't know what to do but I just sat there giggling... it wasn't funny at all but I just kept giggling, anyway that noise will always be in my head.

When my Grandma found out her sister died she let out this awful scream... I was really little and sitting under the table and it wasn't funny either but I was giggling because I didn't know what to do... I have no idea why I do that.

Both my cats died nearly the same way and their last breath was one of the worst things I've ever heard... and that's all I have to say about that.

That last one is more of an annoyance really... My cat Peppermint cleans her nails by biting and pulling on them with her teeth and the noise is just so disgusting. Actually cats cleaning themselves at all kind of makes my stomach upset, I just really hate that noise...

I figure my thoughts alienate people so I'm sorry. :|

when I really REALLY need to go to sleep, and can't, I take Nyquil (just a normal dose) cuz it makes you dozy.
and that's probably bad XD but it works for me.

The worst noise I've ever heard... was probably a raccoon...
at least, I think it was a raccoon XD
We were camping, and it was nighttime, and we were trying to sleep, and all of a sudden, this horrible, demonic-sounding screaming started, and when I asked my mom what she thought it was, she said a raccoon.

this doesnt help, but to sleep I lie down and close my eyes. but then i'll fall asleep anywhere if i stay still long enough. im very dangerous driving when slightly tired. also, tea has caffeine anyway right?

noises? hmmmm when i was younger i heard some kind of voice from the Exorcist (ive never watched the film) and that creeped me out for ages.

I always thought tea did have caffeine, but I figured since everyone is required to label what's in their food products now a days it would say on here. But you're right they probably thought everyone would know that so they didn't have to say it :) I usually don't drink it before I go to bed though, maybe I'm caffeine sensitive or something stupid like that.

Ew that voice would be creepy.

I hear you. It takes me foreeeever to fall asleep. I notice it the most when I'm thinking too much. It's easier to fall asleep if you kinda let your mind blank.

I guess I do think too much before going to sleep, it's really the only time I ever got to myself to just think. But I mostly feel that I start thinking to much because I can't fall asleep :D
I have absolutely no idea how to empty my mind! :)

What a coincidence, I am reading this journal after waking in the middle of the night. My weapon of choice is a mug of warm milk with some honey mixed in. It's also fantastic for sore throats.

I can't think of any sounds that haunt me, but I also haven't witnessed anything really horrific. Which is something I feel I can go through life without if I can. My mom as teen apparently witnessed the results of a drunken man sticking his car out as he drove passing too close to an oncoming truck.

Does that work with lactose free milk? Milk really makes me sick so it would probably keep me awake even more :D I heard chamomile tea works really good.

Sometimes I wonder how different I would be if these events and others never happened.
Oh jeeze... that must have been terrible for your mom to see! I'm guessing the man was killed?

We got stuck behind an ambulance in a traffic jam once with long glass windows on the back, I don't know why on earth they had windows but anyway, I'm pretty sure I was staring at a dead guy for a few hours... Not so pleasant.

I'm not sure! Now that's a suggestion backfire! I'm not sure about chamomile, but it's probably different for each person. I've tried it a couple times lately (gift box of about a two dozen different herbal teas) and I think does relax me. You know, back when we worked at the puppy and reptile place, the owner would sometimes light some lavender incense and that would always make us fall asleep on break...

Yeah. He was pulled of his vehicle, so that was her first look at someone dead... Argh, that sounds like it was a long few hours.

Sticking his head out of his car, I meant to say.

OMG I didn't see this reply! I can't imagine ever getting that out of your mind!

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll try the chamomile.
